\f1 \fs22 A large sacred area is located at the end of the promontory. In it have been found a religious shrine dating
from no earlier than the fifth century BC and a \b \cf4 \ATXht1141 temple\b0 \cf0 \ATXht0 , the so called sanctuary of Aesculapius, whose visible structure is certainly from the Roman era but presents traces of earlier phases datable to the Punic period
. It appears that the harbor had three berthing places, although the main one must have been located on the northwestern shore of the promontory. All these structures are now underwater.\par
